Dialogue is not carried out among religions; because the Allah's religion is one and it is founded on monotheism creed with which Prophets (May Allah's benediction and peace be upon them) were given the good tidings and upon which and the founding base upon which the believers in Allah's Messages meet as well as the common terms applauded by believers and finally encouraging believers to worship Allah Almighty alone and not associate any more with Him.

Since dialogue is a matter which is required by man's distinct and society's  needs for formulation of a matrix for relations network that will remain stable only with dialogue and understanding among its various factors , it is considered essential and that  Islamic legislature and jurisprudence sanction it. However, dialogue, has its ethics and is based on the following principles stipulated in the Holy Qur'an & Sunnah:

1-Dialogue is not one type, but at the level of the Islamic terminologies, it can be determined by the following three kinds:

A- Dialogue. It is the Da'wah dialogue; in which there is no way for retreat and review but in fact it is conveyance where a Muslim individual invites people to the religion of Allah.  

B: Debate:  It is the process of exchange of views with the purpose of clarifying truth. Debates sessions may take place among Muslim scholars and intellectuals and others may take place with the followers of other religions.

C- Normal dialogue: This is characterized by the process of response, giving and taking. Moreover, it a matter v permitted by Islam in issues that are based on wisdom and mental evaluation. The following are the three dialogue processes that can be carried through this particular type:

1- Argument carried out among groups of a certain community aiming at inculcating in the minds of people the values and norms as well as fight of vices and bad deeds since all believe in such values.

2-- Dialogue carried out for dealing with injustice and aggression for the sake of disseminating justice and establishment of truth, as Allah commands us to abide by doing justice and keeping away from injustice.

3- Dialogue carried out for social and beneficial contracting. This acknowledges the existence of multi-ethnic and religious society. However, ethics and bases of dialogue are distributed as follows:

1-Determine the theme (s) of dialogue, via specification of its dimensions. It is essential that every party to dialogue must know the idea on which other party is based, with a view to proving or negating the idea; for negligence such idea and its details transform the dialogue to the type of insult and revilement dialogue.

2- Knowledge: The useful dialogue is the one in which people having adequate knowledge on the matter under discussion participate , as the Qur'an drew the attention to the dangers of argument  and dialogue without due knowledge.

3- Objectivity: This means the situation I which the objective of the individual conducting dialogue is to reach the truth without fanaticism or stagnation. Furthermore, objectivity means recognizing the presence of the adversary.

4- Commencing from common actions of understanding: It is advisable that people commence in dialogue process from common actions of understanding and agreement. This makes peoples' souls in a status that educes acceptance to what will be submitted by the other party since concerns are common.  However, it will no be appropriate to gather a number of controversial and conflicting points, and then come to carry dialogue with his adversary in such unfavorable climate, which is naturally expected to be dominant by emotion and constriction.

5- Eloquence in speech: We intend here that those carrying dialogue must use suitable eloquent styles that properly convey the message he wished to take to the recipient. This naturally requires that he must not use words or phrases having confusing significance and ambiguity.

6- Addressing people kindly: Saying nice words to people when addressing them will attract their heats and souls, hence paves the way for reaching points common to both parties to the dialogue. Furthermore, kind words always have their substantial impact on listeners. 

 

7- Discipline: This is the base that maintains respect and prevents ridiculing of the dialogue court and those taking in it. In fact , Imam Al-Juwaini  drew the attention to the said matter as follows," And the best in argument is the observance displayed by one of those carrying the dialogue for discipline, as discipline in every thing is its  ornament and that discipline elevates the status of man observing it and failure to observe it  results in ugliness.

8- Equilibrium and satisfaction: We mean by this that the individual enters dialogue sessions and debates in tranquility psychological state far from emotion caused by the state of losing equilibrium which deprives him of affecting those around him.. However, a mentally -disturbed individual is not expected to carry out good and sound dialogue nor meaningful debate.

9- Respect of adversary. It is essential for those conducting dialogue to respect and venerate their adversaries and that they are prohibited to ridicule them. If any of the dialogue partner starts  exercising disrespect procedures towards  his adversary , the other side will exchange with the same attitude , the fact that consequently leads to  insult and altercation that corrupt dialogue  and take   it away from  the normal course of its objectives.

10- The theme of the dialogue between Muslims with their various schools of thought and non-Muslims for the sake of good living and at national , regional and international levels needs to be the values regulating the relations among people and whatever sets for an established life of  justice , veneration and human dignity.

11- Dialogue from the Islamic site has a major objective, focused on the dissemination of mercy with which the Messenger of Allah was sent. This mercy was not directed only to the followers of Islam but also to the whole mankind as supported by Islam. Therefore, any injustice is totally rejected in the light of Islamic principles, and that we require Muslims to abide themselves with jurisprudence principle and non-Muslims to appreciate it.

12- Dialogue within the approved principles and on sound bases of the Holy Qur'an and Sunnah is an essential matter, provided that there are ethics that check its course. However, since dialogue was essential, it is incorrect to leave it to individual initiatives nor to those with vested interests   nor to those is emotionally negligent or excessive.

 

Dialogue, in fact, needs the formation of foundations that have its objectives, organizational charts and regulations, so that they may be able to play this role after enjoining due support from the governments. Furthermore, such dialogue session should be organized by specialized foundations and attended by knowledgeable and experienced scholars. The main derive here is that the matter should given to those who qualified to discharge it competently and satisfactorily  , so dialogue can always be checked up  and not allowed to depart  its normal course and that confusion and deviation  of courses into  harmful tendencies can   effectively be prevented.

In conclusion , it has to be made public that  the dialogue desired by Muslims desire  civilized dialogue which aims at making man happy and bringing benefit to all on earth.
