Prince Khalid Al-Faisal cast light on the negative impacts of practicing terrorism in the name of Islam, giving Islam's enemies a chance to stab our religion from behind. He counted a number of losses, including grave losses of people and damage of properties in addition to spread of panic and fear among innocent people.
He said the terrorists crimes have portrayed Islam as though it is the religion of hatred and contradictory to good life.
Saudi Ulema, researchers and media have done a good job to refute the accusations of terrorists, explaining that Islam is the religion of tolerance, love and peace and that rejects violence, terror and extremism, he said.
At the Arab, regional and Islamic arenas, Saudi Arabia has joined its sister countries to confront the terrorist phenomenon, he said, citing that it has called for establishing the center for dialogue among Islamic sects.
At the international arena, it also called for the establishment of the dialogue center among followers of religions and cultures.
Despite those efforts, terrorist groups emerge here and there from time to time, he said, adding that today's conference is designed to create a collective Islamic system that confronts the evil efforts to defame the profile of Islam in the world and to put a strategic plan imperative to all peace-loving countries, organizations and people to wipe out this epidemic.
Also speaking at the opening session were Sheikh of Al-Azhar Dr. Ahmed Mohammed Al-Tayeb; the Secretary General of Muslim World League Dr. Abdullah bin Abdulmohsen Al-Turki; and the Kingdom's General Mufti, the Chairman of the Senior Ulema Commission, the Department of Religious research and Ifta Sheikh Abdulaziz bin Abdullah Al Al-Shiekh, who is also Chairman of the Supreme Council for MWL.
They illustrated the danger posed by terrorist groups wearing the clothes of Islam and showed how Islam has nothing to do with this forged and illusive concept.
They called on the Muslim world to shoulder its responsibility to put a plan how to fight this epidemic.
They cited the importance of work in the field of education and media to illuminate people on the correct beliefs of our religion on one hand and show the absurdity of the terror groups claims on the other.
They lauded the steps taken by the Kingdom in this regard, wishing the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud every success in his efforts to get rid of terrorists.
