Praise be to Allah, and peace and blessings be upon the seal of the prophets and messengers, our prophet Mohammed (PBUH);ourtrue example, his family and all his companions.

The youth stage is the most important stages of man’s life and age. Since, it has been characterized by enthusiasm, strength, vitality and activity, and a sense of self-esteem, and ego.It is also a period of refined emotions and feelings. Additionally, there is a willingness to sacrifice and hard work to achievecherished principles and ideals.

Islam has accorded theyouth stage great care and importance. It has madethis phase a priority that must be put to the best use. It is the time to share burdens and costs, and carry out responsibilities and duties to the max.The instructionsof our Prophet (PBUH) came confirming this in his words: “…and your youth before your old age."

Theenemies of Islamhave realized the powerful potential of the Muslim nation's youth. They have also recognized the way to influence it and derail it.They concocted plans, and have made great efforts to prevent young people from achieving their capabilities. Muslim youth faced a variety of challenges aimed at weakening their faith, and obscuringtheir identity. These contests’ aim is to corrupt theirinherent nature and alienate them from worshiping theirLord. Their enemies’ objective is the dissolution of their Islamic character, which is their pride possession.

Thenew media was one of the most significant of these challenges. Its    means, technologies, patterns; added to the diversity of methods of presentation are awesome. The attraction and lure are irresistible to its followers. Furthermore, the massive display of material is mind boggling; the positive or negative impact of its yield isswift and serious. The young people who are living with today's era of revolution, and an enormous information technology revolution face the biggest risk.

And the wealth of technology and information enormous, use it to do good if they became super excellence generation, while the misuse produce a generation lacking in values and ethics.

And the New Media’s many opportunities will confront young Muslims head-on. Therefore, they have to strive to get the best advantage of these opportunities to reach the highest standards.  Similarly, they will face challenges as well; they are required to overcome difficulties successfully and safely.

This blatant challenge Muslim youth are facing requires them to figure out how to deal effectively with the methods and techniques of new media. They must learn how to use it and draw the best benefit thereof; and they must face these challenges positively and constructively. Youth should build faith-based relationships and develop religious conscience. They must strengthen their intellect and make it impregnable to any foreign influence. However, when dealing with the new media’s tools and techniques, their Islamic ethics must be omnipresent in their minds, conduct, and behavior.

Aware of the importance of the role of youth in peoples’ development, the Muslim World League is holding the XVI Makkah conference entitled “Muslim Youth and New Media.” It recognizes the youth relevance in the revival of the Muslim nation’s civilization. The MWL is also aware of the magnitude of the new media and its means and technology, and the youth’s attachment to it. These are positively and negatively under the spell of its broadcast. Consequently, there is a need to invest in and utilize these techniques in the service of Islamic work. Again, precautions must be taken to protect youth from falling prey to ideological invasions, and the pitfalls of moral decay.
